About the role

What you'll be doing
 

As a Category Specialist, you'll work closely with Product Management, Operations, Sales, Demand Planning, Logistics, Warehousing and external suppliers to ensure materials and equipment are sourced, procured and delivered efficiently.
 

Key responsibilities include:

Category Management & Strategic Sourcing

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies across assigned categories.

  • Identify opportunities to improve cost, quality, supplier performance and supply continuity.

  • Manage sourcing activities from requirement gathering through to supplier selection and contract negotiation.

  • Monitor market trends, supplier capabilities and emerging technologies to support business growth and innovation.

  • Ensure supplier agreements align with commercial objectives, risk requirements and procurement policies.
     

Procurement & Supply Chain Operations

  • Create and manage purchase orders, transfer orders and inventory transactions.

  • Expedite supplier orders and proactively manage supply risks.

  • Maintain item master data, pricing and supplier information within ERP and WMS systems.

  • Coordinate inventory allocation across warehouses, 3PL providers and project sites.

  • Support demand planning activities through forecast execution and supply planning.

  • Resolve supply, logistics and delivery issues to ensure customer commitments are met.
     

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Build strong supplier partnerships focused on safety, quality, service and innovation.

  • Monitor supplier performance against agreed KPIs including cost, SIFOT, quality and compliance.

  • Conduct supplier reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure suppliers meet AGL's governance, compliance and sustainability requirements.
     

Continuous Improvement & Analytics

  • Analyse procurement, inventory and logistics performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Lead initiatives that optimise inventory levels, reduce costs and improve service outcomes.

  • Support strategic change initiatives across procurement, warehousing and logistics functions.

  • Develop recommendations and reporting to support business decision-making.
     

What you'll bring

We're looking for a procurement professional who combines strong commercial acumen with excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
 

Essential experience and skills:

  • Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, category management or supply chain operations.

  • Strong supplier negotiation and contract management capabilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Experience working with ERP, inventory management or procurement systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and deliver cost savings and process improvements.
     

Nice to have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Commerce or a related discipline.

  • Minimum four years' experience in a similar procurement, sourcing or category management role.

  • Experience within renewables, or technology-related industries.

  • Exposure to warehouse, logistics or inventory management environments.
