About the role
We are looking for a pro-active and knowledgeable Accountant with compliance, auditing and governance experience to join our growing not for profit organisation, while we are making an impact globally, the future team member should be experienced in accounting principles ensuring financial records are accurate as part of compliance requirements being a registered Charity.
Responsibilities
Liaising with internal departments for compliance, auditing and governance to;
Maintain accurate financial records and perform full bookkeeping functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and bank reconciliations using Xero and other approved accounting systems, while managing balance sheet reconciliations such as accruals, prepayments, debit card payments, and project-related accounts.
Prepare monthly management accounts including profit & loss, balance sheet, cashflow, and financial reports, and produce comprehensive reporting packs for senior management and board committees.
Maintain well-organised financial records, reconciliations, and supporting documentation to ensure full audit readiness, assist with year-end financial statements, and coordinate with internal and external auditors during audit processes.
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements including ACNC governance obligations, BAS and IAS lodgements, GST compliance, payroll processing, superannuation obligations, and adherence to ATO and Fair Work legislation.
Conduct financial analysis including monthly variance analysis, forecasting, cost analysis, and financial modelling, providing clear commentary and insights to support organisational strategy and management decision-making.
Support the development, monitoring, and review of organisational, departmental, and project budgets, tracking expenditure against budgets and reporting variances to ensure effective financial planning and control.
Track and report financial activities related to donations, domestic and international projects, ensuring maintaining strong internal controls, accurate documentation, and effective collaboration with internal teams and partners.
Key Requirements and Qualifications
Work experience as a Accountant with experience in compliance, auditing and governance (Minimum of 5 years)
Minimum Certificate IV in Accounting & Bookkeeping
Excellent knowledge of Xero and MS Excel
Accurate data entry
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Communicate effectively with others at all levels
Identify opportunities for process and system improvement
Ad-hoc reporting
Review and prepare monthly financial information including:
Organisational Budgets
Payroll
Relief Project Financial Management
Balance sheet accounts
The Candidate
Degree qualified in the fields of Accounting. You will have worked previously in a financial reporting role where you have developed your understanding and expertise of the accounting standards and their application. You will have a high level of attention to detail as well as well-developed written and verbal communications skills.
The role is Full Time, 5 Days a Week, office based role in Granville.
