Are you an Assistant Accountant looking to build stronger commercial, reporting and month-end experience within a global business?

You will work closely with an experienced Finance team and gain hands-on exposure across month-end reporting, reconciliations, fixed assets, sales reporting, statutory reporting and broader commercial finance activities.
This role would suit someone with 2–3 years’ Assistant Accountant experience who is ready to take the next step, sharpen their technical skills and contribute in a fast-paced, practical business environment.
The opportunityAs an Assistant Accountant, you will support the Finance team in delivering accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting. You will work closely with the Senior Accountant and gain exposure beyond routine transaction processing, with involvement across reporting, analysis, audit preparation, fixed assets, CAPEX and process improvement.
This is a hands-on role where you will be trusted to take ownership, ask questions, solve problems and build a strong understanding of how the business operates.
What you’ll be doingAssist with month-end and year-end close, including journals, reporting and reconciliations
Reconcile balance sheet and intercompany accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies
Prepare monthly sales reports across products, customers and business segments
Support BAS, PAYG, Payroll Tax, FBT and other statutory reporting requirements
Assist with audit preparation, documentation and supporting schedules
Support the CAPEX process, maintain the fixed asset register and complete monthly reconciliations
Provide support across day-to-day finance activities, including PO matching, invoice coding, allocations, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable cover
Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis and reports to support business decision-making
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting or a related discipline
2+ years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes
Advanced Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables and SUMIFS
High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
Clear written and verbal communication skills
A proactive, reliable and accountable approach to your work
Experience in any of the following will be viewed favourably:
FMCG, wholesale, warehouse, manufacturing, distribution or another stock-intensive environment
Stock-related journals, inventory reporting or cost-related reconciliations
Sales reporting and variance analysis
Fixed assets, CAPEX processes and fixed asset register maintenance
ERP systems and/or Power BI exposure
Curious and keen to understand how a business really works
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
Detail-focused without losing sight of the bigger picture
A strong problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset
Able to work independently while still collaborating closely with the team
