This is an excellent opportunity for a developing finance professional to take on a broad, hands-on accounting role within a large, operationally complex business. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will contribute to critical month-end and year-end processes while building expertise across expense management, balance sheet integrity, and commercial reporting.

About Our Client
Our client is a well-established, market-leading Australian business with operations spanning multiple countries and a workforce of over 1,000 employees. They operate at significant scale across a national site network, with a strong track record of growth and a finance function that works across borders and business units. This is a business where the finance team plays a genuine commercial role, supporting operations and decision-making at every level of the organisation.

The Role
Based in Sydney with hybrid working flexibility, this 9-month fixed term contract sits within the Finance team and reports to the Finance Manager. The position plays an important role in ensuring accurate, timely reporting and maintaining the integrity of financial systems and records. You will work alongside a broader finance function and engage regularly with operational stakeholders across the business.

Key Responsibilities
In this role you will:

  • Contribute to month-end close processes, including preparing schedules, journals, and system entries to meet reporting deadlines
  • Manage the Concur expense system end-to-end: reviewing, approving, and journalling credit card expenses; accruing unsubmitted claims; and providing account and user support to employees across the business
  • Administer company credit cards on the banking platform, including card issuance, closure, and limit adjustments, as well as processing employee reimbursement claims
  • Manage finance tasks associated with property leases, including rental and council rate payments, and liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders on occupancy matters
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, perform P&L variance analysis, and resolve aged or unusual items to maintain balance sheet hygiene
  • Support year-end reporting, respond to audit queries, assist with annual budget preparation, and administer finance tasks related to motor vehicle fleet management
Qualifications and Requirements
We are looking for candidates who bring:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Current enrolment in or progress towards CPA or CA qualification
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a commercial accounting role
  • Proficiency in accounting systems, with experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) highly regarded
  • Familiarity with Concur or a comparable expense management platform
  • Strong reconciliation skills, sound data analysis capability, and confidence working with spreadsheet tools
  • Full working rights in Australia (no sponsorship is available for this position)
