About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Accountant to join our growing accounting and advisory team. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, preparing complex compliance work, mentoring junior team members, and delivering high-quality accounting, taxation, and business advisory services.
The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent client relationship skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Taxation
- Prepare and review financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals.
- Prepare and review income tax returns, BAS, IAS, and FBT returns.
- Ensure compliance with relevant taxation legislation and accounting standards.
- Conduct tax planning and provide strategic tax advice.
- Assist clients with cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting.
Client Management
- Manage a portfolio of business and individual clients across various industries.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Act as the primary point of contact for client accounting and taxation matters.
- Identify opportunities to provide additional advisory and value-added services.
- Analyse financial data and prepare management reports.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Promote efficient use of accounting software and technology.
- Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and client service delivery.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation within practice management systems.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline.
- CA or CPA qualified (or nearing completion).
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience within public practice accounting.
- Strong knowledge of Australian taxation legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience preparing complex financial statements and tax returns.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and client priorities.
Preferred Experience
- Experience using Xero, Xero Practice Manager, and Microsoft 365.
- Exposure to business advisory services.
- Experience reviewing and mentoring junior accountants.
- Knowledge of SMSFs desirable but not essential.
