The Opportunity
ZIMMERMANN is seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced Payroll Officer to join our Finance team based at our Sydney Head Office in Rosebery. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the accurate, compliant, and timely processing of the Australian payroll across both our Retail and Corporate teams.
Working closely with the Senior Payroll Manager, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment, has a strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, and takes pride in delivering high‑quality outcomes through precision, collaboration, and process improvement.
As a Payroll Officer, you will contribute to operational excellence within payroll, balancing hands‑on processing with analytical problem solving and stakeholder support. You will work closely with Payroll, HR, Finance, and Retail teams, ensuring a smooth payroll experience for employees while supporting the business’s ongoing growth and compliance obligations.
Key Responsibilities
As Payroll Officer, your responsibilities will include:
Support the delivery of accurate and timely fortnightly Australian payroll
Manage payroll changes across the employee lifecycle
Maintain payroll data across payroll, HR, and time & attendance systems
Ensure payroll compliance with Australian legislation and awards
Respond to payroll queries and support a positive employee experience
Partner with internal teams and payroll providers to improve processes
Support the Senior Payroll Manager with reporting and projects
2+ years experience in payroll
Experience working with payroll and time & attendance systems, ideally Human Force.
High attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy
Confident problem‑solver with sound analytical skills
Clear communicator, comfortable engaging with a range of stakeholders
Professional, discreet, and trusted with confidential information
Strong skills in Excel and the Microsoft Office suite
