The Company

Our client is an ASX-listed precious metal miner that is about to enter its long-anticipated production phase at the end of 2026.

Holding 100% owned and operated assets in Australia, they are headquartered in Sydney and are looking to establish a strong, motivated finance team. 

The Role

Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, it will have multiple touch points throughout the business, as well as with external outsourced providers  

It’s a really unique opportunity to join a business about to enter the full production phase, and with that will come numerous opportunities for the roles’ expansion and your career development.

Initially, however, the role will still retain some transactional elements before the team expands. More specifically, the role will be to:

• Prepare ASX statutory financial statements in line with relevant accounting standards (e.g., AASB/IFRS) and group reporting requirements
• Support month-end and year-end close, including journals, accruals, provisions, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Lead the implementation of the business’s ESG reporting requirements 
• Coordinate external audit processes: schedules, queries, evidence packs, and issue resolution
• Assist with technical accounting papers/memos, including assessment of new standards and accounting treatments
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations (e.g., ASIC lodgements where applicable)
• Support consolidation and reporting activities, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations
• Partner with stakeholders across the business to improve processes, controls, and reporting quality
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Your Background

To be considered for this Senior Financial Accountant position, our client has asked us to consider candidates who:

• Are happy (especially initially) to roll up their sleeves in the transactional work while they build out the team
• Have experience in the preparation of ASX Financial Statements (either in commerce or as a first-time mover, Chartered)
• Experience working in a heavy CAPEX-led business, such as Mining/Renewables or Construction/Engineering, would be a big advantage
• CA or CPA qualified
