We are a growing corporate services business providing accounting, financial management, and administrative services to a group of private companies, including businesses operating within the construction industry.

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Financial Controller with strong construction industry experience to oversee the finance function across our business and client entities.

This is a senior role offering broad responsibility across financial operations, payroll, cash flow management, compliance, and reporting.

Reporting directly to senior management, you will take ownership of the day-to-day financial management of multiple entities and play a key role in supporting business operations and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions

  • Oversee payroll processing across multiple entities

  • Perform bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations

  • Manage and forecast cash flow across multiple businesses

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports

  • Conduct month-end and year-end financial close processes

  • Prepare BAS, GST, payroll tax, and other statutory obligations

  • Monitor project and job costing performance

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning

  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities

  • Maintain strong internal controls and financial processes

  • Support directors and management with financial analysis and reporting

Construction Industry Experience Required

The successful candidate must have previous experience working within the construction industry and be familiar with:

  • Construction project accounting

  • Job costing and project profitability reporting

  • Progress claims and subcontractor payments

  • Retentions and contract administration

  • Work-in-progress (WIP) reporting

  • Cash flow management within project-based businesses

  • Construction payroll requirements and compliance obligations

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Minimum 7+ years' experience in a senior accounting or finance role

  • Previous Financial Controller, Senior Financial Accountant, or similar experience

  • Demonstrated experience within the construction industry

  • Strong understanding of AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, and cash flow management

  • Experience managing multiple entities and related-party transactions

  • Excellent knowledge of Australian accounting and taxation requirements

  • Strong systems experience, including MYOB and Office 365

  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
