About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Compliance & Safety Officer to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining compliance and safety systems across our Bulk Haulage, Civil Construction, and Heavy Haulage operations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring legislative compliance, and supporting operational teams to achieve the highest standards of workplace health, safety, and transport compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and continuously improve the company's Safety Management System (SMS).
Conduct site inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Ensure compliance with relevant WHS legislation, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations, and transport regulations.
Monitor and maintain NHVR permit compliance and heavy vehicle regulatory requirements.
Develop, review, and update company policies, procedures, SWMS, and safety documentation.
Coordinate workplace safety training, inductions, and competency records.
Manage incident reporting, corrective actions, and preventative measures.
Liaise with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders regarding compliance matters.
Support management in maintaining accreditation and compliance standards.
Assist with fatigue management, vehicle compliance, maintenance records, and driver documentation.
Promote a proactive safety culture throughout all areas of the business.
Essential Requirements
Minimum 2 years' experience in a Compliance, Safety, WHS, or similar role, preferably within transport, civil construction, heavy haulage, or related industries.
Strong understanding of Workplace Health & Safety legislation and best practices.
Demonstrated experience managing compliance systems and safety programs.
Sound knowledge of NHVR requirements, including permits, mass and dimension regulations, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Current Driver's Licence.
Desirable Qualifications
Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety.
Knowledge of National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS).
