Director Corporate Finance - Renewable Energy

Our client is a growing Australian renewable energy organisation seeking an experienced and ambitious Head of Corporate Finance to take ownership of the finance function at a pivotal moment in the business. With a significant project pipeline moving into financing and construction, this is a rare opportunity to step into the lead finance seat and play a central role in some of the most consequential renewable energy transactions in the country.

The Role

This is a step-up opportunity for a senior finance professional ready to move into a Head of Corporate Finance position. You will own the full finance function, lead project finance processes through to financial close, and work directly alongside the founding leadership team. You will have two direct reports and broad responsibility across project finance, financial operations and business development.

Key Responsibilities

Project Finance

  • Lead project finance processes for major renewable energy assets through to financial close

  • Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models across project finance, equity raises and revenue support bids

  • Manage financial due diligence across legal, technical and commercial workstreams

  • Negotiate and execute financing agreements across debt and equity structures

  • Build and maintain relationships with financial institutions, investors and advisors

  • Review project contracts including construction, offtake, connection and land agreements, presenting key risks to management

  • Support preparation of investment papers, board presentations and financing documentation

Financial Operations & Strategy

  • Lead all financial operations including reporting, forecasting, budgeting and treasury management

  • Provide strategic financial advice to the CEO and Board on investment decisions and capital allocation

  • Prepare and present Board-level financial reporting and joint venture governance materials

  • Ensure compliance with financial covenants, reporting obligations and statutory requirements

  • Identify, assess and mitigate financial risks across projects and business operations

  • Support feasibility modelling across new project opportunities

Business Development & Transactions

  • Review new business opportunities from a strategic and financial perspective

  • Lead investment documentation including financial analysis, due diligence and investment papers

  • Support tender processes and EPC contractor negotiations

  • Work closely with development and technical teams on the commercial impact of due diligence findings

  • Build and continuously improve the finance function as the business scales

About You

  • 10–15 years of experience in project finance, infrastructure or energy finance

  • Hands-on transaction experience from the principal side - financial close experience essential

  • Strong financial modelling skills across complex project finance structures

  • Experience managing financial due diligence and executing financing agreements across debt and equity

  • Experience working within or alongside joint venture structures with institutional partners

  • Comfortable operating in a lean, fast-moving environment where ownership and initiative are essential

  • Excellent stakeholder management — able to represent the business credibly with lenders, JV partners and the Board

  • Renewables or energy sector experience highly regarded

Compensation

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience

  • Short-term incentive up to 20%

  • Long-term incentive plan linked to major project milestones

  • Statutory superannuation
