About the Role
We are seeking committed Disability Support Professionals for a casual position. In this critical role, you'll be reporting to the Support Worker Team Lead, and will be instrumental in providing comprehensive direct support to NDIS and other funded participants. Your expertise in navigating complex mental health, psychosocial, and dual diagnoses will empower participants to achieve their personal goals. This is not a coffee and groceries role. Serious and experienced professionals need only apply.
Here's a snapshot of your day
Provide tailored support to individuals with intricate psychosocial and complex mental health diagnoses.
Implement personalised care plans as advised, focusing on human-centred, strength & compassion based practices.
Foster empowering relationships with participants, understanding their unique journeys.
Collaborate with NDIS organisations, government stakeholders, and healthcare professionals to ensure integrated support.
Engage in crisis intervention and provide psychosocial support when necessary.
Maintain accurate documentation, adhering to NDIS protocols and requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role within complex mental health, psychosocial, and dual diagnoses fields - Essential.
Minimum Certificate 4 in Mental Health, Disability Support - Essential; tertiary qualifications in Psychology/Counselling, Psychiatric Nursing, or related fields preferred.
Suicide Intervention & Harm Minimisation training preferred.
Alcohol & Other Drugs (AoD) training or experience preferred.
Proficient understanding of the NDIS framework, especially in relation to mental health services.
Excellent organisational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
Expertise in managing complex mental health diagnosis and providing tailored support.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse individuals.
Strong empathetic and patient approach, with a focus on participant-centred practices.
Strong professional boundaries.
Skilled in complex problem-solving and informed decision-making.
Proficiency in detailed record-keeping and reporting.
Commitment to ongoing professional learning in mental health and disability support.
