Disability Support Worker - Youth

About the role

Sunnyday Carers is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker - Youth to join our team on a casual/part time basis. This role is based in South, West Sydney, NSW 2565 and offers the flexibility of casual work whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker - Youth, you will provide essential support services that enable young people to develop independence, build confidence, and participate fully in their communities. This role is fundamental to our mission of delivering person-centred care and support that respects the dignity and individuality of every young person we work with.

Key responsibilities

1. Providing direct personal care and support to young people with disabilities, including assistance with daily living activities

2. Supporting young people to engage in recreational, educational and community activities tailored to their individual goals and interests

3. Assisting with mobility, communication and social interaction in safe and inclusive environments

4. Maintaining detailed and accurate records of support provided and any concerns or observations

5. Working collaboratively with families, carers and other support professionals to deliver consistent and coordinated care

6. Promoting the independence, dignity and rights of young people whilst ensuring their safety and wellbeing

7. Supporting young people to develop life skills and build resilience

8. Responding compassionately to individual needs and adapting support approaches accordingly

9. Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment where young people feel respected and valued

What we're looking for

1. A genuine passion for supporting young people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care

2. Proven experience working with young people with disabilities in a support or care setting

3. Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with young people, families and colleagues

4. Patience, empathy and excellent interpersonal skills

5. A valid driver's licence and reliable transport (preferred)

6. Current Working with Children Check clearance

7. Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain one

8. Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing support needs

9. A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respecting the privacy of young people in your care

10. Physical fitness and ability to assist young people safely with mobility and personal care tasks

11. Must have completed OCG Training Modules
