Job Description

Causmag International is seeking a skilled Plant Operator to oversee and maintain the safe, efficient operation of our chemical production plant located in Young, NSW The Plant Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of fixed and mobile plant and associated production systems used in the manufacturing of Magnesium Oxide and Magnesium Carbonate. Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor processing of Magnesium Oxide and Magnesium Carbonate, including chemical reactions, calcination, milling, and material handling processes
  • Operate and monitor production equipment including crushers, kilns, mills, conveyors, and packaging systems
  • Control and adjust process parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rates, and material feed rates to maintain chemical reaction conditions and product specifications
  • Monitor process indicators, alarms, and instrumentation to ensure chemical processing systems operate within defined limits
  • Conduct routine inspections of plant and equipment to identify operational issues, leaks, blockages, or abnormal conditions
  • Start up, shut down, and change over plant equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Record production data, process conditions, and operational observations in logs, reports, and digital systems
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments, and report faults requiring mechanical or electrical attention
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, contractors, maintenance personnel, and quality teams to optimise plant performance
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, safety, and product quality

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Certificate III or equivalent experience in chemical processing or manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and quality standards
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in this role or similar
