Maintenance Leader

We are seeking a proactive Maintenance lead to oversee and optimise maintenance operations within the FMCG sector. Located in Rooty Hill, you will balance daily execution with forward planning, people leadership and continuous improvement initiatives.

Description

The Maintenance Lead will be responsible for leading the maintenance function and supervising a team of approximately 7 direct reports, including a planner and predominantly mechanical fitters with electrical capability.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the transition from reactive to proactive maintenance.
• Driving plant uptime, reliability and scheduled maintenance adherence
• Managing daily operations, shift handovers, timesheets, leave planning and backfill
• Coaching, developing and motivating trades staff in a high accountability environment
• Overseeing spare parts strategy for older equipment where availability requires creative practical solutions
• Managing contractors and labour resources effectively
• Supporting and delivering site projects and continuous improvement initiatives
• Contributing to maintenance budgeting, cost control and financial awareness
• Working closely with production to ensure safe, efficient and reliable plant operation
• Ensuring strong safety, quality and compliance standards at all times

Profile

A Successful Maintenance Lead MUST have the following:

• FMCG manufacturing experience in Australia
• An electrical (preferred over mechanical) trade background (licensing not required)
• At least 3 years experience in a Maintenance Supervisor or similar leadership role
• Proven ability to lead and influence trades teams in challenging, resource‑constrained environments
• Strong leadership with the ability to think strategically and plan ahead
• Experience managing planners, contractors and shift handovers
• General knowledge of budgeting, costs and labour management
• A people‑focused, hands‑on, solutions driven mindset and appetite for improving ageing assets
