Position Summary
The Electrical Engineering Technician supports the inspection, testing, maintenance, calibration, and compliance management of electrical systems and equipment used within the rope access and height safety industry. The role ensures that all electrical equipment and associated systems used by rope access technicians comply with Australian Standards, workplace safety legislation, and operational requirements. The position also assists with fault finding, technical reporting, preventative maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives relating to electrical safety and equipment performance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct electrical testing and inspection of rope access equipment and associated systems
Perform routine testing, inspection, calibration, and verification of electrically powered equipment used by rope access technicians, including winches, powered ascenders, communication systems, battery-operated tools, lighting systems, and rescue equipment to ensure operational safety and compliance with relevant Australian Standards and workplace regulations.
Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems
Support the installation, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical components and systems associated with rope access operations, ensuring equipment reliability, minimal downtime, and adherence to technical specifications and manufacturer requirements.
Monitor compliance with electrical safety regulations and standards
Maintain and monitor compliance with applicable electrical legislation, testing intervals, inspection procedures, and workplace health and safety requirements relevant to rope access and industrial height safety operations.
Prepare technical reports and maintain maintenance records
Record inspection findings, testing results, calibration data, maintenance activities, and equipment service histories using electronic maintenance management systems and technical documentation processes to support regulatory compliance and operational auditing requirements.
Assist engineers and supervisors with technical investigations and fault diagnosis
Support Electrical Engineers and operational management by identifying electrical faults, analysing equipment performance issues, and recommending corrective actions or preventative maintenance strategies to improve safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Coordinate preventative maintenance and equipment improvement activities
Participate in preventative maintenance scheduling, equipment lifecycle monitoring, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives relating to electrical equipment used in rope access operations, ensuring equipment remains fit for purpose and compliant with industry standards.
Qualifications and Experience
· At least a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or higher, in a relevant field.
· At least one year work experience in a similar role. We will provide ongoing training and support to the suitable candidate.
