Our Natural Areas team delivers programs and initiatives that support biodiversity conservation, environmental sustainability and community education across the Campbelltown Local Government Area.

 About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and community-focused Environmental Engagement Officer to join our passionate Natural Areas team.

This position is responsible for assisting in the preparation, implementation and review of environmental education programs, projects, events and community engagement initiatives that support biodiversity conservation and environmental awareness across the Campbelltown Local Government Area.

The role will work closely with schools, community groups, private landholders, environmental stakeholders and Council teams to deliver innovative programs, workshops, events and citizen science initiatives that encourage positive environmental outcomes and strengthen community participation.

 The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education, Applied Science, Natural Resource Management, Conservation Land Management or relevant job related experience in associated disciplines.
• Class C Drivers Licence.
• Senior First Aid Certificate and Working with Children’s Check or willingness to obtain.
• Knowledge of local flora and fauna identification, biodiversity and Cultural practices.
• Understanding and experience in word processing, Microsoft Office suite and related Council software including the practical application of GIS software.
• Good working knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply EEO and WHS legislation and policies.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, ability to analyse issues and communicate results by written and oral media to different target audiences including Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities.
• Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated experience in conducting public workshops and presentations.

This role will require some work to be completed outside of typical business open hours and on weekends.
