At Huon, we produce premium Tasmanian salmon enjoyed around the world. Behind every successful production day is a maintenance team ensuring our equipment, systems and facilities operate safely, efficiently and reliably.

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Site Lead to take ownership of maintenance and engineering activities across our processing operations, leading a skilled team and driving equipment reliability, plant performance and continuous improvement.

The role

Reporting to the Head of Maintenance and Engineering, you will lead a multidisciplinary maintenance team and be the key point of contact for maintenance activities across site.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supporting a team of maintenance technicians across multiple trades.
  • Coordinating planned, preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Ensuring equipment reliability and maximising plant availability to support production requirements.
  • Acting as the primary escalation point for equipment breakdowns and critical maintenance issues.
  • Managing contractors and external service providers to deliver maintenance outcomes.
  • Monitoring maintenance expenditure and operating within approved budgets.
  • Reviewing maintenance schedules and preventative maintenance programs to improve performance.
  • Working closely with production, quality and engineering teams to ensure maintenance activities align with operational requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and reporting on performance, costs and improvement opportunities.

About you

You are an experienced maintenance leader who enjoys balancing people leadership with hands-on operational problem solving.

You will bring:

  • Extensive experience within maintenance and engineering environments.
  • Proven leadership experience managing maintenance teams and contractors.
  • Strong planning, scheduling and prioritisation skills.
  • Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, processing or other fast-paced production environments.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems, with MEX experience highly regarded.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A practical approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • A genuine commitment to safety, quality and operational excellence.
