We are seeking a values-driven, compassionate, and empathetic Assistant House Manager to join our Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Roseville.
This is a hands-on leadership role supporting both our housemates and a committed team of support workers, within a warm, person-centred home environment.
<h3>About the Role</h3>
As the Assistant House Manager, you will assist in leading a dedicated team providing high-quality support to three special young women with complex behaviours. Support is delivered both in the home and within the community, and is guided by each individual’s needs, preferences, and goals.
Activities may include shopping, café visits, attending appointments, and supporting visits with family, as well as daily living and personal care supports.
<h3>Key Responsibilities</h3>
Leadership &amp; Team Support
<ul>
<li>Assist in leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of committed support workers</li>
<li>Participate in staff recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and ongoing leadership</li>
<li>Contribute to a positive, values-led culture within the home</li>
<li>Participate in an on-call roster, including after-hours, weekends, and overnight support</li>
</ul>
Direct Support &amp; Operations
<ul>
<li>Participate in the weekly roster and provide direct support as required, including:
<ul>
<li>Personal care</li>
<li>Mealtime assistance</li>
<li>Behavioural support</li>
<li>Medication administration</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Ensure a person-centred and active support approach is embedded to promote independence</li>
<li>Support housemates to engage meaningfully in their community</li>
</ul>
House Management &amp; Compliance
<ul>
<li>Assist with day-to-day operations of the house</li>
<li>Manage weekly staff rosters</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with legislation, organisational policies, and quality standards, including: 
<ul>
<li>Medication compliance</li>
<li>Vehicle checks and audits</li>
<li>First Aid and AED audits</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Prepare for and attend medical appointments as required</li>
<li>Oversee social planning, weekly menus, and meal planning</li>
</ul>
Family &amp; Stakeholder Engagement
<ul>
<li>Develop and maintain strong relationships with housemates, families, and support networks</li>
<li>Support the implementation of our Family Governance approach, including: 
<ul>
<li>Active involvement of people with disability and their families</li>
<li>Identification of individual health needs and preferences</li>
<li>Supporting staff training aligned to individual needs</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
Administration
<ul>
<li>Maintain accurate records, including: 
<ul>
<li>CRM systems</li>
<li>Housemate folders</li>
<li>Google Drive documentation</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Complete other administrative tasks as required</li>
</ul>
<h3>Skills and Personal Attributes</h3>
<ul>
<li>Relevant qualifications and/or experience as a Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, Assistant House Manager, or similar role within a SIL or related environment</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience supporting people with complex behaviours, including the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support</li>
<li>Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities</li>
<li>Experience with rostering and scheduling, or a strong willingness to learn</li>
<li>Strong verbal and written communication skills, including liaison with families and key stakeholders</li>
<li>A genuine commitment to responsive, person-centred, and respectful care</li>
<li>Positive, energetic, and solution-focused approach</li>
<li>Passion for social enterprise and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for people with disability</li>
</ul>
<h3>Requirements</h3>
<ul>
<li>Flexibility to work morning, evening, weekend shifts, and participate in on-call rosters</li>
<li>NDIS Worker Screening Check </li>
<li>Working With Children Check </li>
<li>Current First Aid &amp; CPR Certificate (HLTAID003 or equivalent)</li>
<li>Full COVID-19 vaccination, including booster</li>
<li>Solid computer skills</li>
<li>Access to a reliable vehicle</li>
<li>Full Driver’s Licence or P2</li>
<li>Right to work in Australia</li>

The Cancer Information and Support Services (CISS) Division aims to empower and support people affected by cancer, so that no one needs to face cancer alone. This Division assists people as they navigate the cancer journey.
The CISS division puts the client at the centre of everything we do aligned to our vision, purpose and values. Our client-centred approach to providing information and services to people affected by cancer also flows across engaging with community working at a local level on the ground focusing on understanding the communities’ insights and needs.
Reporting to the Lead, Community, this role is responsible for identifying and engaging key community stakeholders to foster a conversation between communities and Cancer Council, build sustainable relationships and improve cancer outcomes through the implementation of Information, Support Services, Prevention Programs, and advocacy.
This role is offered as a full-time parental leave contract ending January 2027 based at our Wagga Wagga office.

<h3>Key responsibilities of the role</h3>

<li>Identify, build and maintain relationships with key community stakeholders to effectively gather and utilise community insights to implement Cancer Council services and programs. </li>
<li>Deliver, monitor, report and contribute to the evaluation of Cancer Council programs and services with a client centric focus. </li>
<li>Collaborate with key community stakeholders to identify and address gaps in service provision and opportunities to improve cancer outcomes aligned to organisational strategy. </li>
<li>Inspire volunteers through recognition and learning and development opportunities. </li>
<li>Include supporters and key community stakeholders in Cancer Council engagement, learning and development and fundraising initiatives. </li>
<li>Build and maintain effective working relationships with key roles across CISS and other divisions across the organisation </li>
<li>Collaborate with local team and key internal stakeholders to integrate impact of Cancer Council services and programs into fundraising initiatives, including delivering events, public speaking and community activations </li>
</ul>
<h3>About you </h3>
Essential:
<ul>
<li>Tertiary qualifications in health, public health or similar. </li>
<li>A sound understanding of relationship management, community engagement and the ability to translate this into an achievable way of working.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to engage and develop strong and effective relationships with health and community care professionals, government and non-government organisations, community groups and volunteers. </li>
<li>Demonstrated understanding of the effects of cancer on individuals and families. </li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills, including strong public speaking skills. </li>
<li>High level computer literacy in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms. </li>
<li>Availability for and willingness to travel in and work with all communities across NSW. </li>
<li>Work flexible hours (including weekends and evenings). </li>
<li>Class C driver’s license. </li>
</ul>

<ul>
<li>Demonstrated understanding of working with priority populations. </li>
<li>Understanding of, and commitment to, the charitable sector. </li>
</ul>
