Buonissimo Bakery Australia Pty Ltd is a leading Australian food manufacturing company supplying frozen cakes, desserts and pizza products to major retailers including Woolworths Australia, Woolworths New Zealand and Coles.
Established in 2016, Buonissimo has grown to employ over 200 staff and manufactures approximately 90 product lines across cakes, desserts and pizza products. With production volumes exceeding 50,000 products per day, the company continues to invest in operational technology, business systems and process automation to support ongoing growth and expansion.
We are seeking a Software Engineer to support the design, development, integration and continuous improvement of business systems used across manufacturing, warehouse, quality assurance, product development and operational departments.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test and maintain internal software applications and business systems.
• Develop and maintain SQL databases, data structures and reporting solutions supporting manufacturing and operational activities.
• Analyse business processes and identify opportunities for automation, system integration and operational improvement.
• Design and implement software solutions supporting production planning, inventory management, forecasting, scheduling and business reporting.
• Develop and maintain software solutions supporting quality assurance, food safety, product specification management, allergen control, traceability and compliance monitoring activities.
• Develop and maintain systems supporting product traceability, compliance management, quality assurance and operational monitoring.
• Develop software interfaces and integrations between internal databases, warehouse management systems and third-party applications.
• Participate in software architecture, application enhancement and system design projects supporting business growth and operational requirements.
• Support the development and enhancement of integrated business platforms used across multiple departments.
• Work closely with operational, quality assurance, warehouse and management teams to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Coordinate with external software vendors, IT providers and technology partners to support system implementation, enhancement and integration projects.
• Act as the primary technical liaison between business stakeholders and external technology providers.
• Develop reporting and analytics solutions to support operational decision-making and business performance monitoring.
• Support digital transformation initiatives and business process improvement projects.
• Maintain technical documentation, system specifications and software development records.
Skills and Experience
• Bachelor degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Experience in software development, database development and systems integration.
• Strong SQL and database management skills.
• Experience analysing and improving business processes through technology solutions.
• Experience working with enterprise software systems, reporting platforms and operational databases.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies and software development lifecycle practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with operational and technical stakeholders.
Highly Desirable
• Experience working within food manufacturing, FMCG, warehouse, logistics or production environments.
• Practical understanding of food safety, HACCP principles, traceability systems, quality assurance processes, allergen management and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experience developing, implementing or supporting software systems used for quality assurance, product specifications, production reporting, traceability, compliance management or manufacturing operations.
• Ability to translate quality assurance, food safety and operational requirements into effective software solutions and business systems.
• Experience supporting retailer compliance requirements, product data management and customer specification systems.
• Experience with inventory management systems, barcode systems, warehouse management systems or manufacturing software.
