Testing and Commissioning Manager- Digital Infrastructure (Sydney Based)

We are representing a global data centre operator,  build and operate the mission-critical digital infrastructure that powers the modern world. As we scale across Asia Pacific, we’re looking for a Data Centre Testing & Commissioning Manager / Interface Manager who thrives where development ends and operations begins.

This is not a typical delivery role. You will be the independent authority on operational readiness — the final gatekeeper ensuring every data centre we hand over is safe, compliant, defect-free, and ready for flawless Day 1 operations. If you’re driven by zero-defect standards, thrive on technical authority, and want to shape how hyperscale facilities come online, this is your role.

You will own the end-to-end journey from design to “Ready-for-Service” and act as the critical bridge between Development, Construction, and Operations. You will define what “good” looks like, enforce it without compromise, and have full authority to reject or withhold operational acceptance if safety, reliability, or readiness standards aren’t met.

Key Responsibility:
Interface Leadership
- Be the single point of accountability for alignment between Development, Construction, and Operations.
- Embed operational requirements early in design and protect them through build and commissioning.
- Proactively resolve risks, conflicts, and gaps before they impact schedule or safety.
Testing & Commissioning Excellence
- Own the full L1–L5 commissioning lifecycle from strategy through to handover and RFS.
- Define, implement, and audit integrated testing standards that stand independent of construction delivery pressures.
- Govern commissioning plans, staging, and methodologies to ensure every system is validated, performance-tested, and defect-free.
Governance & Technical Authority
- Enforce Operations control gates with authority to approve, reject, or halt progression.
- Lead Operational Readiness Reviews and provide independent technical assurance across all MEP and control systems.
- Uphold energisation safety, LOTO governance, and live testing control.
Operational Handover
- Deliver seamless Day 1 transitions with zero surprises.
- Validate documentation, training, spares, and procedures are complete and fit-for-purpose.
- Eliminate critical defects and residual risk at handover.
Risk, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Champion a zero-critical-defect mindset at RFS and ensure full regulatory and safety compliance.
- Capture lessons learned, benchmark best practice, and drive repeatable, efficient commissioning across projects.

Key Experience
- 10+ years in mission-critical infrastructure, with extensive data centre commissioning and integrated systems testing.
- Proven track record managing the transition between Development and Operations on complex, large-scale projects.
- Demonstrated delivery of facilities through to operational readiness with no major Day 1 incidents.
- Deep expertise across mechanical, electrical, and control systems in high-availability environments.
- Strong understanding of L1–L5 commissioning, IST, and performance validation.
- Unwavering objectivity and integrity — you provide unbiased technical assessments regardless of project timeline pressure.
- Exceptional stakeholder management across internal teams, consultants, contractors, OEMs, and commissioning agents.
- Commercially astute, risk-based decision maker with high ownership and execution focus.

- Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
