About the company:

Our client is building a new model for zero-emission heavy road freight in Australia - the first of its kind! They combine electric prime movers, high-power charging infrastructure, depot operations and operational software to deliver reliable, commercially viable, zero-emission transport services for major freight
customers.

About the role:

You will be responsible for generating, developing and converting customer opportunities into profitable transport contracts, and to manage those customer relationships through implementation and ongoing service delivery.

This role is a hands-on position at a critical stage in the organisation's growth. You will contribute to establishing the sales and account management function, operating at the intersection of business development, account management, and operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify, develop and convert new customer opportunities within NET's target market
segments; develop new leads through industry networking, referrals, direct outreach and market
    engagement activities
  • Build and maintain a structured sales pipeline, including opportunity status, next steps, timing, revenue
    potential and operational dependencies
  • Coordinate customer meetings, capability presentations, proposals and follow-up actions; establish and
maintain relationships with key decision-makers within target customer organisations
  • Work with the Freight Solutions Manager to translate customer transport requirements into practical
service options; support commercial discussions including pricing, service scope, lane definitions,
    volume assumptions and contract structure
  • Lead opportunities from initial contact through qualification, proposal development, negotiation and
contract execution; maintain accountability for individual sales opportunities throughout the entire
    sales cycle
  • Help convert customer interest, demonstrations and feasibility studies into signed commercial
    agreements
  • Gather and document customer requirements including freight volumes, lanes, timing, equipment
needs, service levels, site constraints and operational risks
  • Develop customer proposals, implementation plans and commercial handover documents
  • Lead customer onboarding from signed agreement through to operational commencemen
  • Coordinate customer readiness activities including contacts, site access requirements, operating procedures, communication protocols and escalation paths
  • Act as the primary commercial relationship owner for customers from initial engagement through to
    ongoing service delivery
  • Run regular account reviews and service performance discussions with customers; monitor customer
satisfaction, service performance, contract scope and growth opportunities

Experience and skills required:

  • Experience in transport, logistics, freight, supply chain or a closely related B2B service environment
  • Experience in business development, account management, customer relationship management or
    commercial operations
  • Strong understanding of how transport services are sold, implemented and delivered
  • Ability to work with operational detail including lanes, schedules, volumes, equipment, service levels and
    customer-specific requirements
  • Commercial awareness including pricing discipline, margin protection and contract scope management
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trust with customers and internal teams
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving growth company where processes are still being built
  • Heavy road freight, linehaul, container cartage, bulk freight, 3PL, distribution or fleet operations
    experience is advantageous
  • Interest in zero-emission transport, electric vehicles, charging infrastructure or supply chain
    decarbonisation is advantageous
