Database Administrator

Reporting to the Head of IT, you will be responsible for management of the company's data and database strategy and supporting our customer portal. You will add value through development of our reporting platform, management of database upgrades and testing and implementing new functionality. Wanting to understand, analyse and improve data flows within business processes you will support the automation of processes and a range of challenging data projects.

This will include:

• Performing DBA activities for underlying SQL RDBMS systems.

• Making recommendations to enhance storage and data protection strategies for large databases.

• Scheduling and monitoring recurring system processes.

• Installing, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading the ETLs.

• Collaborating with other staff to develop new business processes or enhance current ones.

• Installing and maintaining the administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance of the system databases and ETLs.

• Maintaining and testing database resilience related to business continuity.

• Undertaking environment capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources and a responsive system.

• Responding to incidents after-hours as required.

You'll bring to the role a skill set that includes:

• A degree, or equivalent experience, in information systems/computer science or similar.

• At least three years of proven experience in database management.

• Advanced skills in MS SQL Server and PostgresSQL

• In depth knowledge of database technologies, architecture and data security.

• Sound project management skills.

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.

• Skills in Power BI and public cloud technologies would be an advantage.

• Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident with valid work rights.
