About Outcomex Outcomex is an award winning Australian IT solutions provider delivering networking, security, cloud, data and AI solutions to enterprise and government clients across Australia. Our engineering team builds real products that go into production, from cloud platforms to computer vision systems running on edge devices in the field. We are expanding the team and looking for a hands on Software Engineer who enjoys designing and shipping software end to end.

The opportunity You will design, build, test and deploy software across both cloud and edge environments. Your work will span computer vision systems that run on edge hardware, the internal tools and services that support them, AI and agent based applications, and the backend APIs and data layers that tie everything together.

You will own features from design through automated testing, deployment and production support, working closely with a small, senior engineering team. What you will work on

End to end computer vision software systems, including capture, on device inference, cloud processing and reporting
Internal engineering tools and evaluation software that improve quality and developer productivity
AI and agent based applications that automate engineering and business workflows
Backend services, APIs and databases, plus the web frontends that surface them
CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and containerised deployment to cloud and edge devices

Key responsibilities

Design, develop, modify and integrate software applications and systems
Write and maintain clean, well tested code, primarily in Python and TypeScript
Build backend services and REST APIs and supporting web frontends, and model relational and time series databases
Develop automated unit and end to end tests and maintain CI/CD pipelines
Package, deploy and support applications using Docker on cloud infrastructure and edge devices
Test, debug and diagnose faults across distributed cloud and edge systems
Write and maintain technical and end user documentation and operational procedures
Provide technical advice and contribute to design proposals, including evaluation of tools and components, and continuously improve reliability, performance and security

Essential skills and experience

At least 1 to 2 years of professional software engineering experience
Strong Python, plus working TypeScript or JavaScript
Experience with SQL databases and building REST APIs
Experience building, containerising and deploying software with Docker and CI/CD
Familiarity with a major cloud platform such as AWS or Azure
Solid software engineering fundamentals, testing discipline, and strong problem solving and communication skills
A relevant degree, or equivalent practical software engineering experience

Highly regarded

Experience with computer vision or machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Ultralytics YOLO or OpenCV
Experience deploying to edge hardware, for example NVIDIA Jetson, and optimising models with TensorRT or ONNX
Experience with MLOps tooling such as ClearML, and data or annotation workflows
Experience building LLM or agent based applications with frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph
Experience with NVIDIA stack for agent based application development and evaluation
Frontend experience with React, and time series databases such as TimescaleDB
