We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Cargo Operations Executive to join our Sydney Airport team and support the day-to-day operation of Turkish Cargo in Australia.
About the Role
The Cargo Operations Executive is responsible for coordinating and supporting the daily cargo operation at Sydney Airport, ensuring cargo is handled safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Turkish Cargo standards and industry regulations.
This role serves as a key link between customers, freight forwarders, ground handling agents, and Turkish Cargo management, ensuring operational performance, customer satisfaction, and compliance requirements are consistently achieved.
The successful candidate will be proactive, customer-focused, and capable of working in a fast-paced aviation environment where attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Cargo Operations
Coordinate and monitor daily import, export, and transit cargo operations.
Liaise with ground handling agents to ensure cargo is accepted, processed, loaded, and delivered in accordance with operational requirements.
Monitor flight schedules and cargo movements to ensure smooth operational performance.
Assist with managing flight irregularities, delays, offloads, and service recovery activities.
Ensure special cargo shipments such as perishables, pharmaceuticals, dangerous goods, valuables, and live animals are handled in accordance with applicable procedures.
Support operational planning to maximise service quality and efficiency.
Identify operational issues and work proactively to implement solutions.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
Act as a primary operational contact for freight forwarders, customers, and service providers.
Respond to customer enquiries and operational requests in a professional and timely manner.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
Assist in resolving customer concerns and service-related issues.
Ensure a high standard of customer service is maintained at all times.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with Turkish Cargo operational procedures and policies.
Maintain adherence to all relevant aviation, security, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Support quality assurance programs and operational audits.
Ensure operational documentation is completed accurately and maintained appropriately.
Promote a strong culture of safety, security, and operational excellence.
Reporting & CRM Management
Maintain accurate records within company operational and CRM systems.
Ensure customer interactions, service issues, operational activities, and corrective actions are recorded in a timely manner.
Prepare operational reports and performance updates as required.
Assist management with data analysis and performance monitoring.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance will be measured against:
Operational efficiency and service delivery.
Accuracy and timeliness of CRM updates and reporting.
Compliance with Turkish Cargo procedures and regulatory requirements.
Customer satisfaction and responsiveness.
Effective management of operational disruptions and service recovery.
Quality of stakeholder relationships.
Accuracy of operational documentation and records.
Contribution to continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Minimum 3 years' experience in the air cargo, freight forwarding, airline cargo, logistics, or airport operations industry.
Strong understanding of cargo operational processes and customer service principles.
Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications and operational systems.
A positive, proactive, and customer-focused attitude.
Desirable
Experience working with an airline cargo operation or ground handling agent.
Knowledge of IATA Cargo Handling Procedures.
Knowledge of Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR).
Experience using cargo management and CRM systems.
Familiarity with airport operational environments and regulatory requirements.
Working Hours
This position is based at Sydney Airport and operates within a dynamic aviation environment.
While standard business hours generally apply, flexibility is required to support operational requirements. From time to time, the successful candidate may be required to assist with urgent operational matters outside normal working hours, including weekends and public holidays, particularly during operational disruptions, flight delays, schedule changes, or other time-sensitive situations.
