We’re seeking Employment / Workplace Relations Lawyers with an interest in workplace investigations to join our growing team. We will also consider lawyers without an employment law background, who would exclusively perform workplace investigation work.

  • supporting employment disputes and litigation in the Fair Work Commission, Federal Court and other courts and tribunals; and
  • workplace investigations across a range of industries and sectors.

More senior candidates will have the opportunity to take carriage of matters, mentor and grow junior staff, and play a lead role in developing and managing client relationships.

Candidates without an employment law background will be involved in:

  • conducting workplace investigations, which involves scoping issues, gathering evidence, interviewing participants, analysing evidence and preparing findings reports;
  • conducting cultural reviews;
  • making findings about a range of workplace behaviours, including allegations of sexual harassment, bullying, discrimination, whistleblowing claims and other forms of misconduct;

To be considered, the candidate must hold a current practising certificate and be able to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • Strong legal research skills, analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and well-developed legal written skills.
  • Ability to manage a diverse, high-volume workload and be able to meet deadlines and client timeframes.
  • Exceptional client service skills including the ability to grow key relationships and handle complex or difficult conversations with client contacts (e.g. in relation to cost expectations and delays).
  • Ability to support (and lead, depending on experience) significant matters with minimal supervision, including the ability to independently provide proactive cost management and input on scoping of matters.
  • Proficiency in technology and computer skills with the ability to learn new operating systems efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to conduct witness interviews confidently and when required, in a culturally sensitive way.
  • Ability to identify legal risks.

Open to candidates based in Sydney, Melbourne or other locations across Australia (with flexible working arrangements available).
