Job Description

Fluence Energy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Services Technician with expertise in renewable energy systems, maintenance practices, HV switching, permitting systems, and commissioning. As a Services Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). You will be responsible for performing maintenance activities, supervising contractors, managing HV switching procedures, coordinating permit processes, and providing technical support during commissioning activities.

Responsibilities

This position requires a strong background in renewable energy, electrical engineering, and field operations.

  • Perform field service, inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on BESS and related HV/LV/MV systems.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on-site using appropriate diagnostic and testing tools.

  • Conduct and oversee high-voltage switching operations in compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, including HV switching records, maintenance logs, and permit approvals.

  • Identify and address potential issues proactively to minimize system downtime and ensure optimal performance.

  • Provide technical support during commissioning, including testing, validation, and optimization of new BESS installations.

  • Collaborate with project managers, commissioning teams, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and handover.

  • ·Work with internal teams to prepare reports, develop maintenance schedules, and update technical documentation.

  • ·Stay current with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to BESS operations and HV systems.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a minimum 10 years relevant experience in an energy, engineering and/or battery storage related field. An ability to interact in a multicultural environment, travel and to work under pressure are also very important.

Australian work rights are required for this position.

In addition, qualified candidates will have:

  • Current A-Class Electrician License with relevant HV (High Voltage) experience.

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of high voltage experience is required.

  • Proven experience in the renewable energy sector, with strong knowledge of maintenance practices for renewable systems.

  • Proficiency in HV switching and strict adherence to safety standards and regulations.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for complex technical issues.

  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, service manuals, and detailed technical documentation.

  • Solid computer literacy for operating and maintaining OEM systems.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
