Hutchins Bros Pty Ltd a family owned, Riverina based Structural Steel Fabrication business has an opportunity for an experienced hands-on Yardsman / Truck Loader to join our team.
This is not a standard Workshop Yardsman role. We are looking for someone practical, methodically minded and organised — someone who takes pride in keeping stock, finished product, equipment, vehicles, and operational support systems running properly.
The role will support Hutchins Bros with workshop organisation, project delivery, equipment readiness, freight coordination and general operational support.
This role suits someone who likes order, structure, problem solving and practical responsibility. We are a practical, hard-working team that values reliability, initiative and people who take pride in their work.

Job tasks and responsibilities
Unloading of trucks and storage of material to suit workshop operations
Development of load plans for outgoing goods to suit customer deadlines whilst adhering to RMS rules and regulations
Packaging and storage of finished product to suit load plans and minimise handling damage during transit
Loading trucks for despatch of finished product
Assist with fleet maintenance coordination and equipment servicing
Coordinate stock control, consumables and equipment management
Help improve workshop systems, storage and operational efficiency
Maintain a clean, organised and functional workshop environment
Implementing and Improving upon Hutchins Bros WHS, Quality & Environmental Policies in everyday operations
General House-Keeping / Yard Maintenance
Assisting Fabrication staff during less bust periods
Skills and experience
Prior experience in a similar role ideally within the structural steel, manufacturing or construction industries
Experience with and planning for loading and unloading of trucks
Experience managing stock, tools or workshop systems
Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently
Mechanically minded with practical problem-solving ability
Reliable, proactive and takes ownership of tasks
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
Ability to identify opportunities for improvement
Current driver's licence
Forklift licence
HR licence /crane operator licence a bonus
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Must have full working rights in Australia
Must have 3 contactable work related references
